Hey Everyone, I figured I should introduce myself before making an official cry for help haha! My name is Daniel and I have been scouring the internet for the past ohhh, year or so looking in to blacksmithing ect ect. It is not till these past 6 or so months that ive decided im actually going to try my hands. Anyways I have been keeping my eyes open for a forum to join for advice when i stumbled upon this LOCAL forum and so it was a no brainer on the sign up. I hope to speak eventually to every one I can here and wish you all well until then!
Welcome to CKM Daniel. You've come to right place to start your forging and knife making journey. The folks here are very friendly and always willing to help. We love questions and problems to solve. Do you have a particular area of interest yet?
Hi Daniel, Welcome. Where abouts are you located? We have a blacksmithing course in Edmonton at N.A.I.T. and quite a few knifemakers within a 1/2 hour drive. Dan
Hey guys, I have looked at the courses at NAIT though at the moment am not able to afford to take any (trust, i want to) But im located north central. about 10 minutes south from northgate. So, my general interest is in blacksmithing though no particular area yet and I'm actually going to start with bronze forging and casting. I don't know if you have seen my other part on making a forge but I'm just starting out fresh. Also I would gladly relish in new friends in the area and i don't mind a decent drive either.
Yes, Welcome. I will second the Nait blacksmithing course. I took IRON 301 in the summer of 2014 and it was great. Walked out of there having made a punch, hot cut, Hammer,Tongs, Nails, and a few coat hooks.
