I started out making this knife for destruction testing but now I'm not sure it wont become my woods knife. The blade is 5160 triple edge quenched. Guard and pommel are wrought iron cord wrapped handle. I'm going to still going to do some rope cutting and chopping to see how it holds up. I have not soaked the handle yet (Why if your going to destroy it) since I may keep it I will probably soak it in fiberglass. What do you think?

The pommel fits against a shoulder on the tang and then is hot peaned on so it is not going to fall apart. I'm a fan of this cord wrapped handles for tough use knives, sure beats scratching up a 60$ burl.

I like to use the common butchers twine at Home hardware. I have three different size diameters, I just try one and see if it looks good. A lot of guys use hemp or synthetic cord (Parachute cord). The trick is to make leather scales to build up the width before wrapping it. I really like the feel of this style handle it almost grips your hand. I doubt you will have any problems doing one, giver a try
