Hi all. I took a cource from Ed Storch a couple of weeks ago (great guy BTW), with his guidance I came up with this build. I have a metal working background. I do some gunsmithing CNC mill and maual Lathe stuff for a hobby. I will probly be bugging a few of you in the future as I get set up to make my own knives. I picked up a couple of band saws to cut up some handle material (iron wood, cocabolo, osaga orange and some apple wood). Yes I am aware of the health hazards with some of this wood. A 2x72 BS and a forge is my next challenge. Sory picks arn't the best. Im pretty much in the center of Alberta, Clive is my nearest town not too far from Lacombe. I would be interested in hooking up with any locals if you are near give me a shout. Stephen
If that's your first knife, I'm already envious. Well done! Oh, and by the way, welcome to Canadian Knifemaker.
It's good to be hear, the forum needs a little more action. I'm working on a 14" patern to cast up a wheel for my 72x2 grinder build. I need a new jigsaw to cut out the spokes so im at a standstill.
Hopefully there are fewer posts because everyone's too busy out in the shop to post. I'm not too busy in the shop - its got a 4 foot drift in front of it, but hopefully other guys are.
This is a pretty low volume forum. As Big says, people tend to go off and work on a knife or two then come back and make a couple of posts. A lot of the older makers aren't as comfortable with the technology either, so they tend not to post(we get a lot of browsers). I think there's only three or four of us from the Sask Knife Guild that ever post. That's a pity as they have a whole lot of knowledge and experience.
