Glad to hear, daughter sent it out for me and forgot insurance and every time I don't insure a package it gets lost.
I was a little late in getting my knife in the post as I made a sheath for it. Sowwwy. It will be arriving "for sure" this week according to the lady at the post office.
My knife will be in the mail tomorrow. I also made a sheath but actually made 2 as the first one was a failed attempt lol Sometimes I realky dislike the leather working part of knifemaking....
I hear you. I made a sheath and about half way in, I looked at it and went "DO OVER". I was just about to ship the knife sans sheath. Then I took another crack at it and kept is much simpler. Maybe we are being too hard on ourselves. Sheath is a bonus. And hey, at least it's protected during mailing! Dan
I am the fortunate recipient of a little beauty of a knife with sheath from @Grouch (Frank Prest of Winnipeg). Knife and sheath were packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. The build quality and degree of fit & finish are very high. The blade is polished and etched nicely and honed to a razor edge. The sheath is really well done too; elegant and slim, yet fits the knife very well. I really like the Manitoba maple burl scales. Knowing that Frank stabilizes it himself makes it extra cool in that artisan way. After explaining to a group of co-workers what a K.I.T.H. is; I passed the knife around and they were all very impressed with it. A quick demo: a sheet of paper was sliced to ribbons in a jiffy: this knife is SHARP! Thank you so much Frank! I am taking it fishing in July and will wear it on my belt with pride. When people ask, I will drop them your name. Dan P.S. Sorry to all of you who had your heart set on getting Frank's entry. C'est la vie. There's always next K.I.T.H. ;-)
Yeah very well might be being a bit hard on ourselves for sure, but if I'm going to prOvid a sheath I want it to be up to the level that the knife is. I won't send a nice knife in a (IMO) sub par sheath...
I guess people see the sheath before they see the knife. That's the wrapping for the present so to speak and first impressions count. I was prepared to send my knife without a sheath, but damn, the first attempt made me pay closer attention to what I was doing. Hopefully the recipient isn't as critical as I am. ;-) Dan
I feel bad as I didn't have any time to do a sheath so my guy is getting just the knife, but because I felt bad I did include a few chunks of good wood for some future handle material!
Dan I am glad to hear you received the package. I've been trying to get some info from Canada post because when I track the package it says its been out for delivery to you since Friday and it still shows that its out for delivery today. LOL. I hope you enjoy the little knife and it brings you years of service. Frank
Ive been a little busy the last week so mine isn't in the mail yet :-( It will be this week I promise. I may even remember to put a picture up.
Knife is in the mail. Lady at the post office said today is the deadline for express post so hopefully it will arrive by the 30th.
I will try and take a couple pics tonight, but I thought I would post to let everyone know that I just received my makers knife, and I am fortunate to say that I am the lucky guy to get Dan's creation! She's a beauty sir! The sheath is fantastic as well! I will put it to good use and am super pleased to have one of your knives... Thanks!!!
Right on Bob. I just slathered 'er in dubbin before wrapping it up in the fabric. Hopefully that absorbed a little and the sheath is dry to touch. Dan
I have a package, 2.5 hours from home on a project. Patiently waiting for the daughter to get home and open it for me and send pictures.
My knife came in from bobbybirds and finally have a picture going to be a few weeks before I can try it out. The kingwood and Cocobolo look real nice and not something I would get locally so that is going to come in handy. I can see this sitting until I find just the right pattern and handle to put together that will show it off the best. The kingwood on a knife I just heat treated might be the ticket. Can't wait to try it out on a steak
Ok, finally got pictures, I need to get a better set up.. Out today, hopefully it makes it within a reasonable time period..
