Well I have been away from the forum for what feels like forever. I havent been posting, but I have still been making it out to the shop occasionally. With the warm temps this weekend i managed to head out to the country and snap a few shots of some of my recent work. First knife is 1095, non etched hamon just barely visible, with dymondwood and a leather dangler sheath i made. Second knife is also 1095 with ghost hamon, cocobolo scales, and a tooled leather fold over style sheath. Last one is a Norse style hawk forged out of an old hammer at last summers hammer-in in Regina, which i finally got around to finishing up. I have quite a few blades in the works in various states of completion right now, as well as another hawk i am working on which should be done by next week. I guess NEEDS to be done, rather than should be done haha.
Very cool. The one that stands out for me is the 1095 w/cocobolo knife. Looks like a real user and I like how you near perfectly matched the sheath colour to the cocobolo.
Very nice work. Can I ask what you used for the dimples in the sheath on the second knife? I really like how that came out.
The dimples in the sheath were stamped with a Tandy leather stamp that I don't have a name or a number for. They came in a box of leather tools I picked up so honestly I'm not even sure how old the stamps themselves would be.
I'm going to try and make one for my next sheath. That is a nice look, an oval or a pear shape from what I can see.
Thank you very much @Roman i always admire the work you post. @krash-bang yes this stamp is what I would call egg or pear shaped. With a piece of 1/4 or 1/2 rod you could easily make the same stamp.
