I just finished this one up to give to my Dad for Fathers Day. he's a big fisherman, so this is my take on a 'Bird N Trout' he wants it for cutting line, odd jobs while on the boat and cleaning the odd fish. Its made from 0-1. This is my first attempt at a brass bolster. didn't take a different angle picture but was impressed the they lined up for my first go at it. my home made bench top press I made in collage came in handy for the pins!
I love the diamondwood too! it turned out with a nice classic look, that really complements my dads character
Parker, i love the wood handle but also the shape of it. I really dig that kind of swooping belly shape on a handle. Really organic look. I don't know all the technical names and lingo yet but I know that i don't like too many straight lines on knives. It's why I'm not fond of tantos. I really like the curves on a blade and on a handle. Really well done. Your pop is gonna love it.
Thanks ToddR. I agree. Altho I don't mind the tantos myself all the hunting knifes I've designed have a slight curve down the spine from butt to tip and I try and make each handle with the bumped out belly haha I'm the same with the lingo. Bolster, ricasso, choil and the basics but there are many more to learn haha
Great gift for your dad, interesting 3 bands visible on the blade, not sure what they are, photo reflection or do they exist on the blade?
That's a very meaningful full gift Parker, I am sure he was thrilled! Wonderful knife, and yes I am late...there's a lot to go through here lol
