Maybe not that special but I was cleaning brass pins with acetone and I put them in a tray outside in the cold while they dried, don't like the smell in the shop. Well they contracted a bit due to the temperature and it sure made assembly easy. A good tray that held the cold helped.
    Cheers all.

That's a pretty good tip -- and a good excuse to get into the shop on a cold day.

For sure good tip. I used the freeze trick to fit bearings. Hey we could do some backyard cryo when the "polar vortex" is hanging around. LOL

They used to do this with valve seats in cylinder heads in the machine shop in my old store that I used to work at. Put them in the fridge freezer for a bit, they contract and as they heat up perfect fit!! Science is fun...sometimes.
