Hi guys, it's been a while. Covid shut my wife down and I went back to full time work which didn't leave much time for forging but I didn't stop totally. Anyway, this is what I've done recently. 1084, 15n20 and what I did to get pattern took a long time. It's my first attempt at a mosaic. Hopefully this works and can see something. https://photos.app.goo.gl/t7YfqndXwjGXdf777
Nice one! Daggers may not be the most practical knives but I like the look of them. I confess I don't always like damascus -- I think it gets overused. I have to say, though, I really like the subtlety of that mosaic you've got. It really fits the style of blade.
ty, the dagger is a stepping stone to a full size damascus sword which was my goal when I started this. I have the sword done and am heat treating it right now in the oven that I built. This is the first time I'm using the oven. Has a cavity of 6x8x45 inches. Weighs almost 500 lbs lol.
great knife Tom. I did one small dagger and really struggled keeping the grind line centred and straight (https://canadianknifemaker.ca/index.php?threads/sgian-dubh.3588/#post-27910) so what you've done is really impressive.
Thanks Dave, I've never seen a dagger with saw teeth on it before...looks good and I really like what you did with the handle.
Thanks Tom - I didn't either but he was looking for a Scottish sock knife (Sgian Dubh) which I had never heard of. A lot of the examples I looked at had the serrations so I incorporated them. Maybe you need it to cut the haggis
