Thought I would make my 2nd knife an interpretation of a Canadian belt knife to mark the 150th...complete with homemade red and white Canuckarta! https://www.flickr.com/photos/155109468@N08/35534429322/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/155109468@N08/35534428272/in/dateposted-public/
Is this your ACTUAL second knife Griff?! I love the shape! The red and white Canuckarta is a nice touch also!
Yup Connor second knife I have ever finished! I posted the first when I joined, and I have about 4 or 5 that I wrecked learning to get to the point I am at now. The knife is not perfect by any means I know that, grind lines are wavey, and on the other side I ground the micarta so aggressively I ripped out the Loveless collar lol! That said I am pretty proud of this one, it fits really well in the hand, and it's one step closer to being confident enough to one day sell my knives. Thanks for taking the time to look... Cheers!
Hey that's pretty cool. I like it. It looks like a mini Nessmuk with some modern twists. What are the scales me of? Like candy cane micarta?
It's just high quality cardstock ( so you know the colour is all the way through) from the craft store Dan suspended in resin in the home made press I started with 2" x 12" and came out with a workable 2" x 8" piece, which ended up being, what? Maybe 2 1/2 - 3" handle scale on each side lol...some parts separated because it was taking so long to shape it I ground aggressively on a 36g belt and it got so hot I melted the resin! Oh well, live and learn! Thanks for looking Dan, Cheers!
Question to those who sell knives: Would any of you consider this a sellable design? Now that I have had a good look at it, it really is a cross between the Canadian Belt Knife and a Nessmuk Knife, feels good and natural in the hand, and very comfortable. It was made from 1-1/4 " O1, 8" overall length, hollow ground with a 3 3/4" cutting edge. Just wondering, as I was considering making more!
I believe it will be a sellable design, I made a similar small version like that and it handles very well.
very nice blade griff! your bevel lines look great for your second blade, its not an easy grind to do. i tried one and my grind lines were all over the place. very nice touch on the lanyard holes.
