I am looking for some opinions. I have 7 Blades I need heat treated, they are A2 tool steel. I am trying to decide whether to send them to Paul Bos down in the States or over to Rob at Knifemaker.ca. Bos is obviously a master at his craft but I would have to send them over the border. Pls help I have knives sitting doing nothing and they are sad. They feel naked and need handles.
I guess it depends a bit on marketing. If you're looking to sell the knives, you might get some milage from having them heat treated by Paul Bos, assuming your buyers have the knowledge to appreciate it. On the other hand, I expect the cost will be much lower sending them to Rob. In either case, you'll end up with nicely heat-treated blades.
If your two choices are Rob or Paul Bos, stick with Rob at Canadian Knifemaker Supply Ltd. He's heat treated several of my blades and he's done a great job. Plus, Brad is right. Shipping it back and forth across the border can get expensive. Jim T
Thanks for the replies. I really didn't want to send it over the border so you helped make up my mind.
