I just finished this one up. I had made the blade a while ago but never finished it. I decided to get it done and off my bench. I made it a half D guard. I thought it looks like something you would find buried on a civil war battleground. The specs are 1084 steel, cord wrapped handle soaked in epoxy the guard is mild steel. The spacer and pommel are aged hammer finished copper.

Nice. How did you get that aged looking etching on the blade? Suits the knife well

I etched the blade and guard in bleach. My methods are not perfected by any means there is a lot of trial and error.

    Thanks for the comments

Holy hell, I love that knife. Very nice work. I haven't had the guts to try something like a D guard yet.

I've never been a huge lover of bowies, but this, this could make me a convert. I love the treatment of the blade and guard, love the copper. The cord wrap makes it complete. Well done.
