Here is my latest take on the kukri. I was trying for a Rick Marchand look (without trying to build a copy) rugged and coarse sort of like it was just dug out of the ground. The blade is 5160 with a heavy etch, wrought iron fittings and cord handle. The cord is soaked in epoxy, I peened the pommel on so its good and solid.

Wow! That's some pretty serious work... You did well with aging. It looks old but in good shape...

How is the cord to work with when epoxied?

I wrap the handle then put the epoxy on it. It soaks in pretty good. Makes for a tough handle

I etched the blade with everything so I'm not 100% sure what worked but I think soaking in bleach and scrubbing with steel wool was the best. I did a lot of cycles of soak then scrub to try and keep the finish even

Awesome piece! Very cool shape. Always fond of that khukri look with the diving point.
Nice aging work too. Craftily made to look like 60 years in the jungle. I am curious to try some alkaline etching now.

    Thanks for posting.
