Got this one finished finally. OAL: 9 3/8" blade: 4 5/8" CPM154 1/8" thick. Brass guard and tube, mosaic pin. Handle is stabilized Black Ash burl and cinnamon colored spacer. I really liked working with that wood. It came out nice. A little filework. Thanks for looking. Serge
That is a great looking knife, I agree with the above statement, the brass go great together. I do have a question, the voids along the spine due to the file work, is it epoxy that fills it in?
Guess I was not paying attention to the brass bits but the way you did that looks much better than I originally thought it would.
Yes, it's filled with epoxy. I use the stuff they put in paint to color it. I go to the hardware store and they give me a squirt of the color I need in a pill bottle. In this case black. I just use a tiny drop at the end of a pop-sicle stick and mix it in with my epoxy.
learned something, always mix the epoxy before adding the color so you can tell it is properly mixed. was supposed to be a quote here but no worky for me
That's one georgeous knife. One of the nicest hunters I've seen. Excellent chicle of materials and colours. Fantastic job.
I just found out the guy that bought the knife got broken in last weekend. They tore up his house pretty bad. The only thing they stole was the knife I made.
