Hi, my name is Tyson, just want to say hello. I've been into knives for many years and have just recently started into the making aspect of it. Glad to see a Canadian forum, wish I would of found this sooner.
Looking forward to learning and meeting new folks here. Cheers

Welcome Tyson. We seem to be getting quite a following from the east.

We've got a good group here, so if you have questions about any aspect of knife making, you'll find plenty of answers. Are you interested in any particular type of knives or knife making?

I'd like to someday get into folders, frame locks, but right now I'm just working on fixed blades. No particular style really, just whatever comes when I sit down to drawl in it out. My grinder is a 1x42 right now, still learning to make an even bevel, with crisp straight lines. My left side is alright, my right.... not so much. Ha

I know what you mean about your strong side vs your weak side. Since you have more control with your strong side try finish grinding with your weak side first and save your strong side for last. I find it easier to make both bevels even that way. it helps me anyways. I'm still hoping to make my first folder soon but for now I'm currently working on rebuilding an old. ..... really old folder that was ready for scrap. I figured i can't make it any worse than it was. Lol

I recently picked up a book by LeRoi Price called, knife mechanisms just the fun of it. Its a good read, with all different makers and different locking mechanisms.
And thanks for the tip on the grinding ;)
