.......a scandi start

    A milling machine hey... my guard may be making a trip to your shop Rob lol.

    What material is the guard? Lookin good so far!

    hehe yeah I can't even think how many times a mill would have saved me from saying some bad words...

    thanks, this one is brass , undecided though...........I made one out of out a chunk of fallow deer antler last night as well that looks pretty neat

    unshaped at this point...........no idea what the handle material is, antler of some kind , found it in the tickle trunk of goodies............have a block of black locust that I'm leaning towards ???????

    Lookin good Rob! I think the antler would look better but the brass would add more strength. How long is your blade?

    Thanks Jules , the only downside to the antler is the core, a little fragile when I drilled for the tang, the brass definitely has a tighter fit and would be stronger............

    I usually like to finish to 400 grit before heat treat so if there are any blemishes I can deal with it then. Before I finished sanding with 220 I noticed some pitting horizontal just below the spine, kept sanding hoping it would dissipate, well it got worse not better............

    That sucks. I know what your talking about and it's very frustrating. Remember though, this KITH is just for fun. Leave them in, it will give it character.

    That handle is stunning Rob. Excellent work on the whole thing. Whoever gets that one will be very happy. What are the handle materials?

    thanks guys, still have a couple touch ups and a sheath but it was nice to get a few hours in the shop this weekend......
    Grayz...............the handle is Zircote up front, brass/red fibre spacers, black locust spacer, hoduran rosewood, 3/16 brass corby's w/ 1/4'' brass lanyard tube
