9'' of 154CM , 60HRC , gotta love the new tester !! stag antler handle, brass corby's , brass bolster (tried a 3 dimensional look ) hard to tell in photos but I'm really happy with it, now on to the sheath thanks for looking
thanks guys , no Steve I haven't tried the cryo thing yet but been pondering the equipment to do it for a while, we"ll see how things go ......
I have not been able to see a picture yet either. But I bet its awesome. Also on a side note I am glad you chose corbys. Once they are ground they just look like pins. For some reason I absolutely despise loveless bolts on a level that isn't even healthy lol. The small uneven gap in the threads drives me nuts after they are ground lol
oops my fault I think I deleted it by mistake when I updated with a better quality pic (still not great cause my photography is the pits) here's another picture........... and Brandon I'm glad you mentioned the details of the loveless style rivets cause I was about to try them !!
I am sure the loveless bolts work very well and have their place too, but because the threaded core passes fully through the two side pieces, when they are ground flat you can see distinctly where the shaft and nut are, and there is always a gap exposed when you grind into the threads. Its this cosmetic issue i dont like, more than any performance issues. Not sure if i am explaining it well but a quick google image search for loveless bolts will show finished knives with the issue i am talking about.
i've used the loveless bolts before but have always cut them down close to my handle leaving the threaded part long then peened them before sanding whichseems to hide everything
Excellent tip shad, I have never used them, but that seems like an idea that not nearly enough people are trying. It would also help stop them from moving on the off chance they ever did want to loosen
.....this is the sheath I put together for this knife..........a little different style for sure, wife and kids weren't crazy about it, very heavy duty 10 OZ I'm really quite happy with it in a first attempt
I like it Rob, something different and unique. That's what makes a great custom one of a kind package. great job!!!
