I had some time to kill when the paint was drying on my laser enclosure and made this KN58 Micro Chef's knife. It's about 2.75" (7 cm) OAL and is made from AEB-L with stabilized crosscut bocote and copper pins. 1/5th scale. Pin holes are 1/16".

Copper pins are strands from some X Link cable.

Fun project. I am going to try and laser my logo on it.

    Warning totally impractical idea ahead:

If it were more cost effective, and with your new engraver, what a cool business card a miniature knife (and more like it) would be!

To be honest I wasn't really expecting any much as far as feedback goes. It's kind of taken on a life of its own. After showing it around, I have requests to make seven more of them. I guess people like their "cuteness." Certainly won't be much profit in them. Mostly labour as the materials are all from big knife scraps. I can see them morphing into key ring fobs or like you said collectable promotional swag with logo etc. What's next letter openers? ;)

Dan , no profit, that is exactly what I have found about SMALL knives. Nobody wants to pay for them and the materials and time are just about the same as a larger knife.

Actually Dan, I've been watching video taken from the knife makers at shot show and mini knives are in right now. Turns out theres a big market just for people who want to open boxes or mail and dont want anything bigger. The are making little square folders with like a 1" chisel blade that fits in the key pocket of your jeans. If you made little kydex sheaths for those you may just have a winner. Using kydex scraps too. Though my Lorena Bobbitt Barbie is still the fastest way to big bucks : )
